The Vietnamese MOW vendor contract expires September 30, 2010, which means that the Department of Purchasing and Supply Management (DPSM) will be sending out a Request for Proposals (RFP) in the spring to a long list of prospective Vietnamese vendors in the communnity. To ensure a fair bidding process, I would like to ask if you or someone you know may be interested in becoming a Meals on Wheels vendor. Loans handed out to struggling small businesses as part of President Barack Obama’s stimulus package have largely shut out minority businesses especially those owned by African Americans and Latinos according to data provided by the federal government’s Small Business Administration (SBA) to New America Media (NAM).

On June 15, the SBA using money from the $787 billion American Recovery and Reinvestment Act launch-ed the ARC program, America’s Recovery Capital, giving banks and credit unions 100 percent guarantees so they’re taking no risk when they make loans of up to $35,000 to previously successful, currently struggling small businesses to help them ride out the recession.

Apply now for the NFIB Young Entrepreneur Foundation is accepting applications for the 2010 NFIB Young Entrepreneur Awards. Beginning midnight, October 31 through 11:59 p.m., December 31, 2009, any high school senior graduating in 2010 may apply online for a chance to win a scholarship valued from $1,000-$10,000.

NFIB Young Entrepreneur Awards are open to any graduating high school senior entering their freshman year fall 2010 at an accredited (not for profit) two- or four-year university, college or vocational/technical institute.
